Arriving at Manchester Airport outside the times of the Airport Collection Service

If you intend to arrive outside the hours of operation of the Airport Collection Service, the following information may be useful:

Accommodation

Please ensure you have made all your accommodation arrangements prior to travelling to the UK.

If you intend to arrive before the start of your contract, please check directly with the hall regarding availability. Please state your Unique ID number (UID) in all communications.

Accommodation Office

If you have already applied for accommodation, please contact halls directly for any queries. However, if you still need to arrange accommodation you can contact the Accommodation Office.

The University's Accommodation Office is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday. It is located at:

University Place
Oxford Road
Manchester
M13 9PL

Tel: +44 (0)161 275 2888
Fax: +44 (0)161 275 3213

Web: www.manchester.ac.uk/international/accommodation/

Booking for the Orientation Programme does not guarantee an accommodation booking.

Alternative accommodation arrangements

If your hall cannot offer you a room for the period of the Orientation Programme, or you intend to live in private accommodation and do not have anywhere to stay, please make appropriate arrangements with a hotel or hostel.

You will need a PDF reader such as Adobe Acrobat (downloadable from Adobe) to view PDF file(s). PDF files open in a new window.

Further information regarding accommodation in the vicinity of the University can be obtained from the information desk at the airport. Please note that hotels at the airport tend to be more expensive.

Manchester Airport is a safe and comfortable environment. The airport is located about 10 miles (16km) south of the city centre, about 30 minutes' drive from the University.

Transportation from the airport

We strongly advise you to make use of the Airport Collection Service, but if you arrive outside the times of the service, you will need to make your own way to your accommodation. A taxi to your residence in south Manchester should cost no more than £25.
